The first of its kind in Connecticut, this online program teaches educational leaders how to work collaboratively to build supportive bonds among children, parents and school staff, create a positive school-wide environment and build strong relationships within the communities they serve. The perspective and expertise gained are valuable for all school-based personnel, including administrators, teachers, guidance counselors and social workers.
Drawing on cross-disciplinary research, courses cover the range of knowledge and skills you’ll need to make positive and lasting structural changes in any K-12 institution. You’ll critically examine the foundations of social and emotional learning with a particular focus on culturally responsive practices, school equity and diversity and inclusion. The program culminates in a self-defined capstone project in which you will design, implement and evaluate an SEL-based action plan in a school environment.
This flexible program may be completed entirely online to support the needs of working professionals. In addition, students interested in pursuing future leadership roles may elect to apply 3-9 credits from the certificate program toward the completion of their Sixth-Year Diploma in Educational Leadership upon acceptance into the program.
