Welcome to spring! As we prepare our campus for the annual Commencement activities, we take this time to honor and recognize the accomplishments of the graduating class of 2025 from Quinnipiac. This is a special moment to extend our heartfelt thanks, congratulations and farewells to our graduates.
The end of the academic year is filled with numerous activities. My calendar is packed with events hosted by various clubs and organizations, celebrating those who have contributed to our community. One notable event was The Big Event last weekend, where students, faculty, and staff participated in community service in Hamden and surrounding areas. This is the largest one-day student-run service project at Quinnipiac. Learn more about Big Event
As I often remind students, "120 weeks of college (for traditional four-year students) goes by very quickly! Be sure to attend programs, engage with peers and leave your legacy." It is incredibly rewarding to see our students embody this spirit at Quinnipiac. Even though there are only a few weeks left this semester, there are still plenty of events: the Wake the Giant concert, Hike the Giant, bingo/trivia nights, and tennis, lacrosse, baseball, and softball games galore. Be proud of the impact your student has made during their college career; it will serve them well in the next phase of their journey.
I would like to extend my gratitude to the Parents Advisory Board, which has grown from 14 to 29 members since last year! We met monthly via Zoom, hosted numerous guest speakers and discussed a variety of topics. Their feedback, reflecting the perspectives of our students, has been invaluable. I am personally grateful for their time and look forward to continuing our discussions next semester.
Looking ahead, we are excited to welcome our returning students to the newly completed South Quad, featuring the SITE and the School of Business buildings. Additionally, the College Break Bus Service will commence next fall. Learn more about the College Break Bus
Happy spring and wishing you a relaxing summer and the opportunity to spend quality time with your students.
As always, should you have any questions or need guidance on assisting your student with an issue, please feel free to contact us at QUParents@qu.edu. Thanks for your continued support.

Housing and Residential Life
Contact us
Our staff are available in the Office of Housing in the Student Affairs Center behind the Bobcat Den. We are open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. We are also available as follows:
As we are coming to the close of the academic year, students should be especially mindful of their meal points. All students are encouraged to check their meal points at least once a week by installing the Transact app on their mobile device or accessing the Transact website. Comparing the actual meal point balance to the week-by-week guidelines will help students to stay on track.
Too many points
Any leftover meal points will roll over from the fall to the spring semester. However, spring semester points will expire if they are not used at the end of the term. The last day to use meal points is on May 10.
Students with too many points have three options available to them:
Purchase food or beverages in bulk quantities directly from the dining hall to bring home. Dining services offers limited items based on cost value at the end of each year. There is a sign-up process announced in April and pick ups take place in the final weeks of the semester. Complete a bulk order purchasing form (offered in the spring)
If a student runs out of meal points, they can supplement with Q-Cash. The dining facilities accept Q-Cash and credit cards. Q-Cash acts as a debit account separate from the student's meal plan, and students may add Q-Cash to their account at any time by making a deposit on the Transact page. Parents and guardians can also make guest deposits. In addition to each dining location on our three campuses, Q-Cash is accepted at numerous establishments in the surrounding area.
Mail Center Updates
We hope this message finds you well. As we continue to enhance our campus services, we would like to inform you of some important protocols regarding package deliveries. Please read the following guidelines carefully to ensure smooth and efficient handling of your mail and packages:
Unified Address for All Deliveries: All mail and packages should be addressed to 275 Mount Carmel Avenue, Hamden, regardless of your office, residence hall, or housing location. Please do not use 305 Sherman Avenue for mail or package deliveries.
Use Your Official Name: Ensure that the name on your mail or packages matches the name you used with Admissions at the time of your application. Unless you have updated your name with the Registrar’s Office, this is the only name Mail Services recognizes. Avoid using nicknames, screen names or pet names.
Include Your Mail Services Code (MSC): Always include your uniquely assigned Mail Services Code (MSC) on each envelope and package. This code helps us accurately identify the recipient, especially for students with similar names.
Plan for Weekends and Holidays: Mail Services is closed on weekends and university holidays. Please plan your deliveries accordingly, as locating packages delivered during these times can be challenging if they are not delivered to Mail Services on the Mount Carmel campus.
Official Receiving Location: The Mail Services office on the Mount Carmel campus is the designated receiving location for all mail and packages. The locker locations in the student centers are not equipped or staffed to handle deliveries, particularly outside their operating hours.
Prompt Package Pickup: Please heed Mail Services delivery notifications and pick up your mail and packages promptly to avoid any inconvenience.
Third-party delivery companies: We strongly encourage you to use companies that have trusted experience and knowledge of Quinnipiac delivery protocols (FedEx, UPS, USPS, DHL, OnTrac and Amazon). Others have not been successful in following our hours of operation and location for mail delivery. This could lead to loss of a package.
Students should not meet drivers for pick-ups: There have been cases where delivery drivers have not been consistent in their delivery of packages. Avoid non-insured companies that cannot be verified for delivery. Additionally, these companies are not allowed on campus for deliveries.
Thank you for your attention to these guidelines. By following these protocols, you will help ensure that all deliveries are handled efficiently and securely. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mail Services.
Continuing F-1 students wishing to engage in an internship in the U.S. during the summer, must be eligible for and enrolled in a course requiring work and approved for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) prior to engaging in work.
Travel
Students with international travel plans should consult the Travel Guidance on the OISS website. Students must obtain a travel signature from the OISS office prior to reentry into the U.S. If students have concerns about travel, they can email oiss@qu.edu or schedule an appointment with an advisor.
Taxes
Every international students on an F-1 or J-1 visa that was present in the US during 2024 is required to file tax forms with the IRS, even if they didn’t earn income. Quinnipiac partners with Sprintax, an expert in non-resident tax prep in the US. Sprintax will guide international students through the tax preparation process and arrange the necessary documents. Students should reference emails and information provided by oiss@qu.edu about tax filing and refer to the information on our tax webpage
Graduating International Students
OISS has purchased blue and green graduation cords as a gift for graduating international students. The blue and green colors symbolize that our international students have traveled from around the globe to attend Quinnipiac and will forever be a part of the Bobcat family wherever they are in the world. May graduates can pick up their cord from the OISS office Monday-Friday 10 am-4 pm.
Students have the option to purchase a Quinnipiac flag sash representing their home country/countries. If interested, please visit this site to order the flag sash online at your own expense. Use this code for free shipping: QUINNIPIAC-SP2025.

If your student has a financial hold on their account as registration nears, please consider checking the Financial Aid tab on Self-Service, to be sure the federal student loan offer is accepted for this school year. Students wanting to borrow a federal student loan who have not filed a current FAFSA have limited time to do so. The 2024-2025 FAFSA is located on the StudentAid.gov website. Submissions for this current school year must be filed prior to April 15 in order to provide ample time for the office to process the loan offer.
If you need assistance outside of the financial aid offer, there are educational borrowing options available to explore.
The federal Parent PLUS Loan offers parents the opportunity to borrow an educational loan to pay their student’s bill. The loan application is located on the StudentAid.gov website and the Financial Aid Office will be notified within 48 hours of the application submission.
If the parent is declined credit for the PLUS Loan, the student may be eligible for an additional federal unsubsidized loan as part of their current financial aid offer. A valid FAFSA submission is required in order to process federal loans. Refer to the Student Aid website for more information regarding the Parent PLUS Loan
Private educational loans are available to students, parents and guardians to pay for school. Please refer to elmselect.com, an unbiased website providing the most current information on private lenders historically used by Quinnipiac families. There, you will find the link to each lender’s application, along with the lender’s customer service phone number, should you have questions relating to your specific financial situation. The lender will notify the Financial Aid Office once the loan is ready for certification. Note, undergraduate students will be asked to obtain a co-signer in order to secure a private educational loan.
The Financial Aid Office can be reached at finaid@qu.edu with additional questions.
