3
Students Leading the Way
-
Join or start initiatives like QU NAMI, The Pizza Project, or Morgan’s Message.
-
Be part of a campus culture that destigmatizes mental health.
Quinnipiac students have been increasingly involved in supporting mental health and reducing mental health stigma on campus. Through multiple student-led organizations, initiatives, advocacy efforts, and programs (such as Student Government Association, QU National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI), The Pizza Project, Morgan’s Message, and many others), students have truly centered student mental health and well-being here at Quinnipiac.
4
Mental Health Awareness Certificates
Engage in courses and hands-on experiences to build your knowledge and advocacy skills for mental health.
In Fall 2024, the psychology department launched a Mental Health Awareness certificate open to all undergraduate students. This certificate aims to promote awareness of mental health and to reduce stigma surrounding mental health problems through coursework and experiential learning opportunities.
5
Spaces That Support You
Quinnipiac has increased the number of community spaces available to promote learning, connection and wellness among students. For example, the new residence The Grove includes group gathering spaces, community kitchens, lounges, and an outdoor courtyard, and the Office of Inclusive Excellence offers a new common area for students to gather, study or just connect. The new Recreational and Wellness building – opened in 2023 – offers a wide range of indoor and outdoor wellness spaces for community use.
6
Wellness at Your Fingertips
Quinnipiac leverages technology and social media to increase student access to wellness opportunities and initiatives. For example, students can now book counseling appointments online and use an app for exploring events and booking classes at the Recreation and Wellness Center. Further, Quinnipiac has increased its Instagram presence to share information related to fitness, health, and wellness (e.g., announcing flu clinics, group therapy opportunities, spreading mental health awareness).
7
Athlete Wellness Matters
-
Workshops, speaker series and wellness events tailored for student-athletes
-
Coaches trained to support your mental and physical health
The Quinnipiac athletic department has increased its efforts to support athlete wellness. Utilizing both in-house professionals and guest speakers, athletes were able to participate in workshops, attend events in a speaker series, and participate in other wellness activities addressing a range of topics highly relevant to athletes (e.g., nutrition, sleep, mental health). Coaches also received education to better support their athletes.
Quinnipiac faculty participate in a range of trainings and workshops to learn new ways to support student wellbeing (e.g., learning ways to support student mental health both in and outside of the classroom, strategies for building relationships with students and colleagues, incorporating wellness and kindness practices into syllabi and coursework, attending mental health first aid and QPR trainings).
9
Listening Labs Offer Real Talk
In order to promote social connections in our community, Quinnipiac has instituted a new Listening Labs initiative. These welcoming, judgment- and advice-free labs offer an opportunity to enhance listening and communication skills, encourage perspective-taking, and to foster connection among. The goal is to help take active steps toward combating feelings of isolation and loneliness.

Common Hour = Community Time
-
Starting Fall 2025: No classes every Tuesday and Thursday at a set time.
-
Join campus-wide events, speaker series or just relax with friends.
Starting Fall 2025, the Mount Carmel Campus at Quinnipiac is instituting a “common hour.” By creating a time every Tuesday and Thursday where no classes can be scheduled, the Quinnipiac community will be able to come together to participate in campus-wide events that will include a range of opportunities such as the Critical Conversations speaker series, wellness activities, and other events to promote a sense of community and enhanced learning opportunities.
