
The clock tower was redesigned in 2000, 25 years ago. One of the key differences between the past and present clock tower is the rocket-shaped figure located on the top. As state-of-the-art facilities have risen around the Arnold Bernhard Library, one fundamental aspect of Quinnipiac has remained the same — unwavering dedication to student success.
The School of Communications became its own school in 2000, preparing students for evolving careers in mass communications, public relations, journalism and e-media. Today, the university has multiple studios and areas for our students to study.
Mr. Hockey himself, Gordie Howe, dropped the first puck at our arena on the York Hill Campus in January 2007. The dual basketball and ice hockey arena went on to host both conference and national champions.
To better prepare tomorrow's leaders, the university established the School of Education in 2008, expanding its educational offerings. Today, the School of Education offers six graduate programs, 4 dual-degree programs and 3 certificates.
Opened in 2009, the nine-story Crescent residence hall offers apartment-style living for upperclassmen on our York Hill Campus. With two- and three-bedroom apartments, study rooms, laundry facilities, vending machines and easy access to dining and recreation, the Crescent remains a top choice for Bobcats living on campus.
Opened in August 2010, our Rocky Top Student Center provides an idyllic atmosphere for Bobcats to gather, relax, dine and exercise. Modeled after a ski lodge, it is the heart of the York Hill Campus, featuring breathtaking views of the surrounding hills, the New Haven skyline and the Long Island Sound.
Honoring a tradition of nearly 20 years, Quinnipiac students have traveled the globe to participate in the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates. In partnership with our Albert Schweitzer Institute, Quinnipiac empowers the next generation of peacebuilders and activists by offering an annual opportunity to attend this prestigious international forum.
Our North Haven Campus is home to our Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine, School of Nursing, School of Health Sciences, School of Law and School of Education. The campus officially opened in 2009. It's also home to nearly 1 million honeybees.
Our students have led the world's largest student-run financial conference in the world since 2011. The Global Asset Management Education Forum (GAME Forum) welcomes an international audience of students, faculty, alumni and business professionals in the heart of the financial capital of the world, New York City. Each year, more than 130 universities and 1,200 students attend.
Established in 2014, Quinnipiac in Los Angeles has provided students with the unique opportunity to live, work and learn in the epicenter of the entertainment universe. For more than a decade, our students have gained valuable experience and exposure in the largest media and entertainment hub on the West Coast. Students have completed industry-leading internships at renowned companies throughout Los Angeles in countless disciplines, including screenwriting, film production, finance, marketing and public relations. The university offers unique learning opportunities with QU in DC, QU in Prague and QU in NYC.
In partnership with the M&T Bank Foundation and Hartford HealthCare, Quinnipiac has welcomed Camp No Limits, offering supportive and inclusive programming for children with limb loss or limb difference, and their families. Participants engage in specialized activities, adaptive recreation and mentorship intended to foster campers’ confidence, independence and development of lifelong friendships. These activities are expertly guided by physical and occupational therapists, prosthetists, Quinnipiac occupational and physical therapy students and faculty, in addition to teenage and adult mentors.
Our Student Programming Board’s annual Wake the Giant concert attracts some of the biggest names in entertainment. Performers have included Flo Rida, Ke$ha, Black Bear and Khalid.
Our Quinnipiac community comes together annually across schools, clubs and organizations to raise millions of dollars to support Connecticut Children's important, lifesaving pediatric care.
Every spring since 2010, hundreds of students, alumni, faculty, staff and even our president have put on gloves, rolled up their sleeves and have given back to the communities we are so grateful to call home during our annual Big Event day of service.
After nearly a half-century of nursing excellence, Quinnipiac opened its School of Nursing in 2011 on the North Haven Campus. Today, our nursing students collaborate with students, faculty and staff in our Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine and School of Health Sciences.
In 2013, our Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine welcomed its first students to their home on the North Haven Campus. This same building is also home to our School of Health Sciences and School of Nursing, enabling interdisciplinary learning.
Launched in 2016, our School of Engineering, now the School of Computing and Engineering, provides students with a solid foundation for in-demand careers that utilizes innovation and design to tackle the technological, scientific and logistical challenges of the 21st century.
Throughout the past 25 years, our Bobcats have earned numerous national and conference championships — from our women's rugby team earning three straight national championships, beginning in 2015 (with Olympic medalist Illona Maher '17 on two of those championship teams) to our 2023 national championship men's ice hockey team to our acrobatics and tumbling national championship victories. Our 21 Division I teams all give members of our Bobcat family so many reasons to cheer.
As our ninth president from 2018-25, President Emerita Judy Olian led our university with courageous and innovative leadership — with new academic programs, new academic and living spaces, and the unprecedented growth of our club sports.
With 23 club teams for students, Quinnipiac offers our Bobcats an opportunity to participate in athletic competition with student-athletes from other colleges and universities. Launched in 2019, our club sports have expanded and have won numerous conference championships.
Our Larson, Perlroth and Troup residence halls (collectively known as The Suites) underwent full renovations in the summer of 2019, creating more spaces to collaborate, learn and grow.
During the 2017-18 academic year, we added two new athletic fields to serve as the home for our men's and women's soccer and lacrosse programs as well as our field hockey program.
Since its inception in 2019, our own emergency medical services (EMS) has grown to leave an indelible impact on our community. Throughout the past six years, Quinnipiac EMS has provided classes, drills and medical care to support Quinnipiac University.
In 2020, the student-run On The Rocks Pub and Grill opened in the Rocky Top Student Center. Here, the Quinnipiac community can enjoy game watches, trivia contests, live music and monthly student discussions.
Our university family came together during the darkest days of COVID-19 to support each other and show their love. In a very vivid example, our facilities team painted a heart and congratulatory message to our graduates on the heart of the Quad on our Mount Carmel Campus on what would have been Commencement weekend. These graduates ultimately crossed the stage a year later.
Quinnipiac signed a landmark strategic partnership in 2022 with Hartford HealthCare focused on building the healthcare workforce of tomorrow and growing student pipelines across a wide range of industries to address long-term talent needs for the state and beyond. The two organizations’ collaboration centers around three core areas: redefining healthcare education; providing our university community with high-quality, coordinated health and wellness services; and developing and growing the state’s workforce.
We unveiled our state-of-the-art Recreation and Wellness Center in 2023, ushering in a new era of health and wellness for students, faculty and staff. The thoughtfully designed facility underscores the university’s commitment to educating the whole person: body, mind and spirit. Of the new 60,000-square-foot space, 15,000 is dedicated to health and counseling, offering a full suite of counseling and healthcare services through Quinnipiac’s partnership with Hartford HealthCare. Nearly 100,000 square feet remain from the attached Athletic and Recreation Center.
Each year, our extended Bobcat family gathers to mark the start of the holiday season at our annual Quad lighting.
Quinnipiac has partnered with M&T Bank to make our communities even stronger. M&T Bank’s commitment to Quinnipiac and the local community extends beyond athletics and the M&T Bank Arena, a state-of-the-art, 185,000-square-foot facility featuring separate venues for ice hockey and basketball. The M&T Bank Center for Women and Business serves women focused on achieving their professional goals. Likewise, the M&T Bank Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship provides students with access to a range of services in legal, finance, research, marketing, business plan development and startup mentoring for all types of business, social, sustainable and artistic ventures.
Quinnipiac continues to develop new academic programs to prepare students for success in evolving careers and industries, including cybersecurity, robotics and blockchain management.
Our Lifelong Learning initiative is committed to empowering working professionals seeking to take the next step in their careers since 2022. Lifelong Learning at Quinnipiac offers tailored programs for individuals, training workshops for teams and custom solutions for organizations.
Boomer was born in 2003 as we became the Bobcats. His passion and enthusiasm inspires countless Bobcats throughout the world.
Our new state-of-the-art residence hall, The Grove, welcomed its first residents in 2024. More than 300 first-year students and nearly 100 upper-class student mentors live in The Grove. Led by faculty and student mentors, first-year residents of The Grove co-create impactful projects to benefit the Quinnipiac community and the greater Hamden community over the course of the academic year.
The official ribbon cutting for our new, state-of-the-art South Quad took place in May on our Mount Carmel Campus. Home to our university's three newest buildings — a brand-new School of Business, The SITE (Science, Innovation, Technology and Exploration) academic building and The Grove residence hall — the South Quad has positioned Quinnipiac for success well into the future.
President Marie Hardin, selected as our 10th president after a national search, will lead us into our next century as Quinnipiac prepares to turn 100 in 2029. This fall, our centennial class begins its Quinnipiac experience.
