This year is the 25th year that Quinnipiac will be participating in the “Inside Washington” seminar. A weeklong dive into U.S. public policy issues and the media.
Throughout this experience, students will engage in national pressing issues, such as immigration, healthcare, environmental protection, foreign policy, media coverage of the government and political parties.
This trip presents a unique opportunity for students to interact with national experts.
Students complete the seminar with valuable insights, professional connections and a better understanding of how government and media intersect.
Throughout the trip, students will not only attend lectures and discussions but also explore Washington, D.C.
Previously, students have had the opportunity to meet U.S. Senator Chris Murphy, of Connecticut, and spent an hour with legendary CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer.
“The students walk away with a deeper understanding of how politics really works, seeing the process from a perspective that few people ever do,” said Scott McLean, faculty director of the honors program and professor of political science.
He emphasized that policy change takes time and often faces challenges from competing interests.
“This program stresses mutual respect, civil dialogue and finding common ground,” McLean said.
