Quinnipiac Director of Athletics Greg Amodio said HighPoint’s $1 million ice-naming commitment levels up the student-athlete and fan experience and will support Quinnipiac’s ambitious hockey locker room renovation project.
The key facility upgrade at the M&T Bank Arena at Quinnipiac will enhance and foster the student-athlete experience and is critical to continue to attract top talent to the program, Amodio said.
“We are so grateful to HighPoint for their continued commitment to support our Quinnipiac ice hockey coaches and student athletes. The opportunity to offer first-class facilities is a key component in attracting and retaining the best and the brightest. We look forward to our ongoing partnership with HighPoint and the many ways it will support sustained success,” Amodio said.
Headquartered in Sparta, New Jersey, HighPoint is a global IT services provider focused on modernization, security, and scaling IT environments. Quinnipiac’s corporate partnership with HighPoint began with the company’s support for Quinnipiac ice hockey in 2011, said Nick Wormley, vice president for development and alumni affairs.
Since that time, Quinnipiac has ascended to the upper levels of men’s and women’s collegiate hockey, including the men’s 2023 NCAA Division I National Championship win.
“HighPoint is really excited to continue to support the efforts of the brand of the university and the winning spirit for our community around men’s hockey. They’re proud to be a part of an institution that continues to reach for the skies,” Wormley said.
HighPoint co-founders Michael Mendiburu and Thomas Mendiburu said HighPoint values the relationship that has developed through its partnership with Quinnipiac.
“We’ve worked with other organizations in the past, especially universities. Quinnipiac just feels different. It’s different in the way Mike and I were received, and the appreciation that we were shown. It truly feels like a home for us,” said Thomas Mendiburu.
He said HighPoint and Quinnipiac share the same commitment to excellence and integrity.
“We’ve been in business for 30 years. We have clients that we’ve had since day one, and they continue to work with us today. There’s a reason for that — we care,” said Mendiburu. “The company is built on honesty, integrity and trust. It’s not about winning a deal, it’s about fulfilling your obligations, and standing by what you say you’re going to do. Working with Quinnipiac feels just like working with HighPoint.”
Mendiburu said HighPoint is privileged to partner with Quinnipiac to support the continued success and growth of the Bobcat ice hockey program and its student-athletes.
“I think it shows the students that the university cares and its partners care about their well-being; and the opportunities it provides for the student-athletes and incoming students who visit to see the university as a potential fit for continuing their career in hockey,” said Mendiburu. “It shows students, as well as potential students, that this university is thriving and they care about the experience that the student-athletes have.”
