The father of two successful Bobcat alumni, Criscuolo said his professional growth began at Quinnipiac. Currently Senior Vice President, Chief Investment Officer & Treasurer for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Criscuolo earned his BS in Finance from Quinnipiac University School of Business in 1994.
“My career trajectory has been a combination of my finance degree at Quinnipiac together with graduate school and other credentials I earned after that; but it all started at Quinnipiac,” said Criscuolo. “It was the place where I grew up professionally, because I was able to combine working and going to school at the same time. Quinnipiac provided me a special opportunity to bring together the formality of academics with the reality of the professional world, particularly in the finance area.”
The philanthropic gift of the Criscuolo Faculty Office supports and champions the renowned and beloved faculty at the School of Business. The school’s instructors are dedicated to supporting students as they help to shape the minds of future business leaders who stand out as graduates.
“I had access to some really good professors at Quinnipiac,” said Criscuolo. “I got know Pat Healy, who was a great accounting professor as well as the university’s Chief Financial Officer. I appreciated that accessibility.”
During his 44 years with Quinnipiac, Healy taught for 30 years and served as CFO for 35 years before retiring in 2015. During his tenure as CFO, Healy helped usher in Quinnipiac’s North Haven and York Hill campuses. Healy played a pivotal role in acquiring and developing the York Hill Campus, which opened in 2007 and is home to the current M&T Bank Arena.
At the time of the York Hill Campus development, Criscuolo’s oldest son, Daniel Criscuolo, ’06, was following in his father’s footsteps as second-generation Bobcat, earning a BS in Finance from the School of Business. To show their appreciation to Quinnipiac, the Criscuolo family contributed a philanthropic gift to the Bobcat’s new basketball facility in the M&T Bank Arena.
The family’s Bobcat connections continued in the coming years when Criscuolo’s youngest child, Alex Criscuolo, ’13, joined Quinnipiac to earn his bachelor’s degree in marketing. During that time, through the Office of Development and Alumni Affairs, Criscuolo accepted several invitations to speak with parents of undergraduates at family events, engaging with them as an alumnus and Bobcat parent.
“Both of my sons had really great experiences at Quinnipiac, so it was a nice way for me to reconnect with the university,” Criscuolo said.
This spring, School of Business Dean Holly J. Raider welcomed Criscuolo back to Quinnipiac, where he toured the new School of Business building. Raider expressed her appreciation for Criscuolo’s impactful generosity that’s driven by a strong connection to the university, the School of Business, and its faculty.
“We are grateful for Tony's inspiration to give back and honor the experiences he had as a Quinnipiac student. Generous philanthropy from caring and connected alumni, such as Tony and his family, recognizes the importance of the school's excellent faculty in preparing students for careers as future business leaders,” Raider said.
With his latest contribution, Criscuolo will help to support the success of Quinnipiac’s next generation of students as they learn with faculty in a cutting-edge facility. Located on the new South Quad of the Mount Carmel Campus, the new School of Business building has been mission-built to provide classroom and other spaces for connection and collaboration, including its Business Innovation Hub, financial technology center; 175-person auditorium; the M&T Bank Center for Women and Business; and the M&T Bank Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
“It’s given me an opportunity to go full circle,” Criscuolo said. “I feel like I grew up at Quinnipiac. I respect the institution, and I’m looking forward to connecting further and being part of the continued growth and success of the university.”
